To a solution of Compound 42d (3.67 g, 15 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (36 mL), water (18 mL), formalin (11 mL, 150 mmol), then formic acid (5.8 mL, 150 mmol) were added and subsequently heating and stirring at 100C for 3 hours. After cooling to room temperature, ethyl acetate was added thereto, and then aqueous 2 N sodium hydroxide solution was added thereto until pH = 10. The organic layer separated was washed with saturated brine, and then dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The inorganic substance was removed by filtration.
