Water was added to the reaction mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed successively with 2.5 mol/L aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and brine, dried, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by HPLC to give 1-benzyloxycarbonyl-4-(2-tert-butyl-2H-tetrazol-5-yl)piperidine (140 mg) as a white solid.
