General procedure: 4-Chloro-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carbohydrazide (2.2 mmol) was heated with ethanol (10 mL) and a few drops of glacial acetic acid. Substituted aldehyde (2.2 mmol) was added on the mixture and refluxed for 4 h. The reaction was finalized by thin layer chromatography control.
